A Young Wife by Pam Lewis was a frustrating read. As a reader, I was always three steps ahead of the main character, Minke, and I desperately wanted her to figure things out. When she finally caught on, I was relieved, but it still took her awhile to get a backbone and take action. I also thought her choice in an ally (the doctor) was questionable when he had been her husband’s ally throughout their adventures and knew much of what had gone on. I can’t say more without giving away plot points, but suffice it to say, I was glad when the book was over and Minke finally had her life together. I will say that Minke ultimately proved to be a strong character, and I was pleased with the ending.(Advance Reading Copy provided for review by Goodreads.com courtesy of Simon and Schuster)
